I've read many reviews of many items on the web, and they're all subjective -- the reviewer's experience. Try this: my airport extreme worked fine for about 4 months and then it started bugging out all the time requiring annoying reconfigurations. The many suggestions on the web have not worked, and I've got to get back to my day job. Your move.

Great product, USB printers and external hard drives work well across my entire network.
For all windows users... format your exteral USB drive to a mac file system (HFS+) using Transmac program. The Airport extreme does not allow transfer of files larger than 450MB under fat32 in a vista/xp enviroment. Under HFS+ filesystem the external drive will transfer data at 12MB/s, under FAT32 Windows users will see only 4-5 MB/s

I did have to use WEP security, but that is only because the pc's wireless card is old. But the iMac and Wii hooked right up, with no problems. ... Read More

The unit works flawlessly and is easy to set up with the included software except for one caveat: the wireless signal wasn't very strong at first until I switched the airport over as a bridge unit (serving my dsl router) during setup as opposed to being a freestanding ... Read More
